Visual Displays in NYC

For this weeks blog I went around the city and captured some interesting visual displays so find a theme that all retailers follow. You’ll see captured both luxury and mass market store displays.

Balenciaga: Keeping It Edgy

This is the visual display for the Balenciaga store on their Madison Ave location. Balenciaga stands out on the avenue, because of their edgy aesthetic. We can see lots of bright/neon colors and animal prints.

Ralph Lauren: Ready for the Gala

This is the visual display for the Ralph Lauren Madison Ave store. Unlike balenciaga its very classic and timeless with a hint of futurism and shiny gold fabric.

Macys: Spring Blues and Tommy

Above are showed the visual displays of the department store Macys on 34th St. They seemed to focus on the brand Tommy Hilfiger. Meanwhile the groups that Macys visuals came up themselves, seem to be very laid back, resort-y and spring. Lots of light blues and stripes. Linen and Denim are popular.

H&M: Gloomy Spring

H &M’s visual displays feature very muted colors and denim. They seem to focus on trench coats and denim. This is very similar to Macy’s visual displays. I mean H&M is known for copying others, so maybe the visual merchandisers just crossed the street and looked at Macy’s visual displays. Either way, it looks very clean and modern.

Urban Outfitters: Jungle in the City

Urban outfitters gives off very youthful energy. Very bright colors and animal prints. This is a theme that we see in the city, as we already saw in Balenciaga’s visual displays.
